About this print

The blue-winged teal is a small, early-moving dabbler, one of the first ducks south in autumn and a fixture of the spring marsh. The drake wears a slate-blue head crossed by a bold white crescent, with a finely spotted warm body and the pale blue wing-patch that names the bird.

This piece rests him at the reed edge, the white crescent crisp against soft water. A connoisseur's small duck that fills out a wall of teal and dabblers.
