editors.
We answer every email — slowly, in the order they arrive, usually within a week. Tip-offs, sightings, gentle corrections, and reader photographs are all very welcome.

Form № 01Six things readers often ask.
If you've a question that isn't answered below, the form above is the right place. We answer every email.
Can I republish a piece on my blog or newsletter?
Yes — for non-commercial republication, with a clear credit and link back to the original. Drop press@birdsandwetlands.com a note first so we know it's happening.
I have a sighting to share. Where does it go?
Reader sightings are wonderful — send them to notes@birdsandwetlands.com with date, location, and as much detail as you'd like. Photographs welcome.
Do you accept pitches from outside writers?
Selectively. We're particularly interested in slow, place-based field essays from regions we haven't covered. Pitch with a paragraph and one writing sample.
How is the journal funded?
Reader-supported, with a small amount of unobtrusive display advertising. We don't take sponsored content of any kind.
There's a mistake in one of your pieces.
Please tell us — we correct quickly and append a small dated note at the bottom of the piece so the correction record stays visible.
Can I commission a piece for my organisation?
Occasionally, for conservation organisations whose work fits the journal's editorial stance. press@birdsandwetlands.com is the right address.
“Half the joy of running a small journal is the letters that arrive — slow, considered, often funny, occasionally moving.”
