About this print
No small duck makes an entrance like a hooded merganser drake. When he raises that hood it opens into a clean white fan edged in black, over chestnut flanks and the thin, fish-hunting bill of a diver found on wooded ponds and quiet rivers. He is shy, and a close look is a small reward.
