About this print
The piping plover is a small, pale plover the colour of dry sand, with a single dark neck-band and orange legs, so well camouflaged on the open beach that it is easier to hear than to see. It is also genuinely rare, and few birds have been more carefully protected; whole stretches of shoreline are roped off each summer so it can nest.
This piece sets one on the wet sand of a quiet, misty shore. A small, tender coastal subject with a strong conservation story, for anyone who loves the quieter end of the beach.
