About this print
Where the mute swan is the bird of the ornamental lake, the tundra swan is genuinely wild: a smaller, straighter-necked swan that breeds on the high Arctic tundra and migrates thousands of miles to winter on quiet lakes and estuaries. It is told from its cousins by a black bill with a small yellow spot at the base, and by the soft, far-carrying calls of a moving flock.
This print keeps the white bird luminous over still, misty water, its reflection breaking below. A wilder, more northern alternative to the mute swan for a wall that wants the real thing.
